    Afternoon all,

I have a question about the DPF Regeneration on my 3.0TDi A6 Avant. Now there is nothing wrong with it but I'm curious as to how it works. On my previous car, a 2008 Peugeot 407 there was a fluid called Elyos which was injected into the fuel tank each time the fuel cap was removed, this was used during the DPF regen. Is there a similar thing on my A6 or does it just rely on the Exhaust Gas Temps being high enough to facilitate the DPF regen?
I'm asking as my car is now at 83k and I'm wondering if its going to need a fluid top up is all.

    Thanks in advance

No fluid required, it uses exhaust / engine temperature to regenerate which is why so many people who insist on buying one and then pottering around town run into problems. If you've not had a problem you're unlikely to get one now. Be aware that the service life for the filter is generally around the 110k mark at which point replacement is required.

Thank you for your reply. I'm averaging about 19k a year and that's mostly motorway miles with a mix of country roads, if we need to do town driving we use the wife's petrol Focus. Did the same with my Pug 407 and that never had an issue with DPF in the 60k I drove it.
When the DPF filter needs replacing I will pay to have it replaced, it works and I see no reason to try map it out etc.
