    Hi Allroad Owners !

    I recently purchased a 2013 A6 Allroad 3.0 TDI (204 HP), with 15k miles on it.
The car looks absolutely immaculate, and all service info checks out at rep. No crashes, no repairs, only recommended maintenance.

The car started doing a minor vibration when the wheel is tuned, on both sides, when in D or R, even when parked. Nothing while in P or N. It escalated rapidly to a major vibration, especially at low speed cornering and maneuvering. It is not so perceptible at higher speeds, but there is some vibration.
Audi recommended that I had new tires mounted, because they were in bad shape and irregular.
Brand new Pirelli P0’s where mounted and the problem persisted entirely.
Apparently all engine and gearbox mounts are 100%, and nothing is visible.
They have the car almost for a week now, and seem to be unable to find out the fault.

    Has anyone had this problem?

    Thank You !

How about 4 wheel alignment if the tyres wear unevenly, it does make the car feel tidy on the road whatever happens.

    Hi Bill Wilson,

    Thank you for your reply.

I justo got 4 new tires mounted and new alignment .

It vibrates when you turn the wheel in parking... As long as it is in D or R.

Hi Not experienced this fault, but thinking about it, if only in D or R that you feel it and definitely not in N or P then. If electric steering rack, could it be the assistance only happens in D and R therefor a problem with the motor(s) within the rack, if that is the only time they receive power.
Just a logical guess, but could be worth asking an experienced mechanic, if the dealer has one... Good luck.

You say a vibration, can you feel it or just hear it within the car? I ask as I've heard of a thing called Quattro creep which I've been told vibrates through the car, my new to me 2015 Allroad also chatters when doing slow speed tight manoeuvring. It feels like its coming from the rear on mine, I've checked it all over and happy with it, maybe its just one of the quirks of Quattro

Hi Elansear, thank you for your help !

I believe the key is in your last sentence. They keep pushing the tyre theory. Unfortunately I dont believe it. Thank you for the pointer, i'll ask for a check on the powersteering rack.

    Hi Keytrem ,

    Thank you for your reply.

Its a vibration trough steering wheel and all over the chassis. No noise though.

The "Quattro Creep" you mention has allways been there ? I don´t think this one has.

Have you had the likes of the ball joints checked? Just wondering if with such low mileage they may have gone bad, same for bushes in the control arms. Has the gearbox oil been serviced at all? I know its generally mileage based but may also have a timescale on there too.
Have you had the car on live data etc to see what the likes of the power steering pump and associated sensors are doing?
Cant think of anything else off the top of my head.

Thanks For the help Keytrem !

Just got the car back from the dealer !

Apparentely there are 2 issues, the vibration at low speed and park cornering seems to be the " Quattro Creep" you mentioned ! They promptly got me driving another allroad, and the behavior is exactly the same, good call

The vibration they claimed that came from the old tires is much better but still the at 105km/h. I was told to try the car at longer distances to see how it behaves, and eventualy get the rims checked.

All power steering cheks come out ok, and visually all elements seem imaculate.

Will have a proper road test this weekend.

Thank you so much for your help.

Once Again, thank you for your input !

Just had a good drive, and the sheer is still there, actually the car feels wobbly over 80km/h.

Had the car tested again at the dealership, and they had me redo all the wheel balancing… again! I even tried it with a “borrowed” set of wheels… Still shakes, even worse.

I have no idea what this could be … had a 3.0tdi with 4x4 transmission for 10 years never had anything like this.

Could a wheel baring do this? Vibration without any noise?
