    flat battery on r redg passat, radio shows 'safe'. no manual. how do i get it to work? now the batteries charged up? thanks

    You need to enter the security code. If you haven't got this then you will need to speak to your local VW dealer.

    thanks, but have code but not the process to input it into radio, nb which buttons to press and in which order, any help?

    thanks huweth. thats my problem, have code but no manual. so do not know process of putting code in.

    If you're still looking for an answer to this then you need to do the following:

    1. Turn on the radio.

    2. About three seconds after the word SAFE appears it will be replaced by the number 1000.

    3. Enter your code using the station buttons 1-4. You must use button I to enter the first didgit of your code and then button 2 to enter the second digit and so on.

    4. Then press either the search or manual setting button for more than two seconds and then release it.

    5. A frequency should then appear and the radio should work normally.

    6. If you enter the code incorrectly you will have to start again, but beware you will be locked out for one hour if you get it wrong a second time. If this happens you will have to leave the radio on with the key in the ignition and wait one hour until the display reverts to SAFE again.
