I want to replace my 97's Delta which can't be used with Dice i-Audio-r ipod interface. If anyone has a Concert collecting dust on a shelf and is interested in selling it please let me know

I think $45 would be fair. Recently on ebay one sold for $36, a second for $51

If you see one for that price buy it!

Well worth the money (if it comes with the code).

I know a local scrap yard sells them for a lot more.

Are you based in US or UK?

I've noticed that car owners sell them with no reserve and they go for whatever the last bidder is willing to pay that day whereas the pros are selling them "refurbished" at high prices (150-250). I don't care if it has the code or the cassette works as I'm only looking to hook an ipod up to it. I've communicated with two people who said the unit worked without the code. I know an owner who has no idea where his code is (he's thinking about selling to me to upgrade). The only issue with me paying more than $50 is that I might as well start thinking about aftermarket as the price of the Dice unit and the head will be near the price of some decent USB/Ipod ready head units but I would like to stick with the stock look.

Honestly, as someone who's taken out an original head unit and put in an aftermarket one for about the price of xcarlink or similar MP3 add on for the Audi Concert, I'd keep the original in if I had my time again.

Just try to snipe on eBay, you might get what you want for a price that you're willing to pay.

Thanks for sharing your experience, that's my feeling also, the concert looks right in the dash, doesn't alert thieves that other goodies might be in the car, no removable plate nonsense etc. I also don't like the gaudy look of most aftermarket head units. I have been sniping on ebay using Auction Sentry, the first time I had a limit of 35, the second 50, in each case it sold for a dollar over. I just have to wait for my time.

As I mentioned before the ebay Concerts were always selling for a dollar more than my top bid (all the way to $100!) This time I was the sole bidder and the Concert cost me $27 US shipping included (I'm in US). Just ordered a Panavise iPod mount that attaches to the left side of the Concert and the Dice i-audi-R. I can also run a 3.5mm line to my phone which runs Tom-Tom. Thanks for the advice and comments.

Just make sure your radio is compatible with the iDice thing, it does seem to say must be post 1998, and I think some Concerts are pre-1998.

Not sure if I'm allowed to suggest alternatives due to forum rules and being told I'm a watched man, but let us know (by PM if neccessary) what the sound quality is like through the Dice.

Not sure I like that panavise holder, it's the sort of thing that scallies will break into your car to see if there' anything worth pinching out of it for.

Even if there's not, they'll still do $800USD worth of damage just so it'll be easier for them next time.

That happened to me in Sheffield once because one idiot (probably an addict looking for next fix) decided a lead coming out of my cassette tape player must mean an MP3/iPod. He must have been so upset when he realised that it was only an ATRAC3 player and I'd taken it out of the car.

Not as upset as he'd have been in hospital had I have seen him do it.....
