    Hi

Can anyone ID the colour of my car please, as I'm confused over whether it is Daytona Grey, Lava Grey or Monsoon Grey. Just need to buy some touch up paint. Thanks.

Thanks - didn't know about the build sticker but I've googled it and checked and the paint code is LY7G. Looks like Quartz Grey. Case closed. (Shame I already ordered a monsoon grey touch up paint pot!)

So you've googled that and now know it's quartz grey...so none of your earlier guesses?

With hindsight don't you think you could have done it all by yourself...and google in about 2 mins? :P

    Guys

Thanks for the dislikes, have decided to update this post as opposed to entering a new one, purely so you can't dislike it twice

Ok, my to my way of thinking, I will always offer advice here if:

    1) It's a newbie, so less than a dozen posts
    2) There's an immediate threat to safety
    3) The car is not running and it's their only transport
    4) The are young with no life skills or don't have the mental capacity

If none of the above apply, and that person hasn't made the effort, then more than often the following would apply to them:

    A) They own a computer
    B) They've driven for years
    C) They own their own home
    D) They have been allowed to have children

But apparently they can't use a search engine??

Am posting less and less and this forum is becoming a little too pc, plus there are some that apparently think they can demand help and not make the effort to help themselves.

    So will say goodbye

How would I have done that Mark, without knowing about the existence of paint codes which I learned of through posting here?

    Everyone has to learn somewhere.
I learn new stuff daily and forget old stuff daily!

I think it's a great shame if you're leaving the forum because of a nonsense issue like this, but maybe you have other reasons/issues. FWIW I didn't find your reply to me helpful so I didn't click the thanks, I did in fact find the second condescending and unhelpful so I for one clicked dislike. I didn't know others had too.

In my experience of forums, there are two types of posters who cause the most grief to others, those forum hangers jump on every post even though they don't know the answer to the question, and those who tell others "it's been discussed before, search for it". Posters absolutely should search previous discussions where possible, but forums where every answer has already been given and people are too inhibited to ask questions, simply die.

It seems remarkable that I apparently now need to defend why I asked my original question, but ok you asked and so here is a rather dull story: I had in fact googled several times and tried to help myself, but faced with a grey car and not knowing what grey it is, what can you google? I think my first search was Audi grey, then that led me to discover the existence of online discussions about whether monsoon grey or Daytona grey are nicer, so I looked at photos of each and could picture my car being either of them so was still confused. And at some point Lava Grey showed up in my searches, so I thought if I just put a pic on here, someone who knows the colours well or who has the same colour car would be able to name it quick sharp. I didn't know there was such a thing as a paint code, or where to find it on the car, so was delighted with the nugget of info Gazwould provided, which was enough for me to google "paint code" and learn that I can find it inside my Audi service book (I also discovered the world of info that the build sticker provides). The words "paint code" were the key that unlocked the solution for me and that was a helpful reply, so I "liked" that post.

Your list of criteria of who you will or will not help is frankly bizarre to me. If you can't contain your disdain for people who are using the forum correctly simply because you think they might own their own home, etc.. then withdrawing probably is for the best.

I think its now the way of the world where drama queens like to make a big exit, what they dont realise is literally no one cares, people search for info find answer and bugger off until the next time, I know as thats what i do when i dont know the answer to computer stuff etc.
Even if someone is the most popular person going, time soon eradicates them from peoples memories and on the internet that time is very short so short sometimes they arent even missed.

Just think how revved up (geddit?) they must be when they type their so called final message?
