Which sealant for sump on 3.0 tdi ASB?

Hi guys,

Annoyingly....last mechanic put some sealant around my sump plug leading me to believe the thread was kaput...got the sump off to find...oh look nothing wrong with it!! Not easy to get off btw!!!

haha stupid me...who puts sealant on a sump plug anyhow! Anyway, it's cleaned and ready to go back on...B5 correctly said the appropriate liquid gasket is Loctite 5970..... however I bought Loctite 5980 as halford didn't have and 5970... I could order online the 5970 but I'm really short on time...

5970 and 5980 are pretty similar...different extrusion rate (??) and 5970 cures faster 1mm depth in 24hrs or something.
Should I order some 5970 or do u reckon the 5980 would do? Maybe. I'm worrying too much....a lot on my plate.

No replays yet.....probably taking off the sump isn't a common thing to do yourself eh....no matter.

B5NUT probably your the only one that can answer my new question....I bought the correct loctite 5970 but am unsure if I have enough. I've got a 50ml tube thinking it would be enough but now I'm not so certain. I only found the 50ml tubes or 300ml which is overkill I think. How much did you end up using? Or does anyone else know if a 50ml tube would be sufficient?
