    Hi

I've noticed some smoke lately whilst accelerating slightly hard! I could never see any smoke in the mirror but there is when revved up to 3000 (ish). It's light in colour and there is no issue with MAF and car is well serviced.

I have been doing a lot more short journeys lately and have slowly started to drive more sedate!! I only do 4 miles to work. Many seem to advocate hard acceleration at least once a week! Is this worth doing, does it really help keep things clean, turbo, egr etc.

Also, is it worth disconnecting the MAF completely?

    Cheers
    Marco

Short journeys won't help any engine as it never get fully warmed up, but hard acceleration wouldn't help as much as a good run now and again. IE 20 - 30 miles to get the engine fully warm.

The MAF does not clog the system up, it just monitors the air flow/density into the engine, the egr causes oil mist and exhaust fumes to go into the inlet so this could foul things up in a long time. (But you adjusted yours to minimum)

I would say is just natural, mine smokes the same when cold 5 - 10 min into my journey its gone. I do 52 miles a day and it never gets any worse or better
