    Hi VW pros

I hope somebody here can advise me before I send an angry email to seller on Ebay stating that he has sold me a faulty steering wheel stalk.

I want to retrofit CC in my 2007 2.0TDI BKP Passat

I bought this stalk VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT 3C2/3C5 COLUMN STALK (INDICATOR/WIPER/CRUISE) 3C9953513C | eBay (Part number 3C9953513C)
So today I removed the steering wheel and fitted the new stalk (Think I'm a pro since I've removed the steering wheel few times today lol...)

I following this guide to code CC B6 CRUISE-CONTROL RETROFIT - PASSAT
It explains how to code it properly etc. I performed all the required coding and still nothing.
My ECU detected Cruise control straight away as when I went into Steering Wheel -> Coding it had changed the setting automatically from 0 to 1 for the cruise control.

After fitting the new stalk I had error in Engine module which was 18107/P1699/005785 - Ross-Tech Wiki
I also had error under Steering Assist and ABS Modules.
One in Steering Assist was - 02546 - Ross-Tech Wiki
One in ABS module was - 00778 - Ross-Tech Wiki

Or maybe vice versa...not 100% unfortunately

No matter how many short drives I did or how many times I performed the basic adaptation for steering wheel, these errors never went away.
I tried turning steering wheel all the way to the left, hold it there for 10 seconds, then to the right and hold it there then back to the centre.
I tried to do the same but turn wheel twice in each direction before stopping at the centre.

I've now fitted my original stalk back in and would appreciate some advise on this.
Is the stalk faulty and I need to send it back or am I doing something very wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

Can anybody advise on how to check if I have all the correct wiring in my car?
Just from the observation the 20pin connector which goes into the steering wheel stalk has pin 16 which is the cruise control one.
It's Orange with a black stripe on it.
    Is this the correct one?
Do I have all the right wiring for cruise control to be fitted? I have genuine VCDS so can check any other module if required. Any module versions etc if it's all version dependant as well.

Some cars may require a wire between the steering controller and the ECU. If this is the case you will have to put one in yourself from the controller into an empty ECU terminal. Not easy and also the reason why my work colleague hasn't done it yet as neither of us are good at wiring.

I already have it on mine fortunately.

Thanks mate I thought that it can be wiring related but from my understanding I already have the wire from steering column electronics module PIN16. At least it looks like that if I look at the plug itself.
Is there a way to check it at all? Anything I can do in VCDS to see if the wire is there? Specific model of the steering module?
I haven't fitted steering wheel housing back on so can also inspect the plugs if needed. Anything specific I could look for?

Just found out that I do not have Cruise Control wiring so need to sort that out.
I tried to fit in the new stalk with a hope that I can use it even though the cruise control won't work...boy it seems I was wrong, or again...the new stalk is faulty

I wanted to install new stalk and leave it there and still be able to use rest of the functions until I run the CC wire however I cannot seem to be able to get the Steering Wheel Angle basic settings.
With the new stalk I don't seem to have power steering and no matter how many times I perform the basic adaptation, it just doesn't work...

Is it faulty stalk or am I doing something wrong?
Or I won't be able to code stalk properly until the cruise control is properly installed?

    Any advise please?

There is VW cruise control retrofit document for the Passat 3C from VW Teeside.

Google "3C Passat Cruise Control VW Teeside" and the PDF link should appear. It is on the VWGolfR32.co.uk website.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks man but it doesn't quite explain why I cannot get my G85 sensor calibrated.

I have followed all of the steps from it to calibrate the G85 but without success.

I think that the stalk is faulty so will send it back to the seller.

Thanks for the help anyways dude

Cruise control fit can be less than straightforward and it's not necessarily a fauilty part. I bought two brand new cars, three weeks apart. At the time, dealer fitting of cruise control was only £150 so I gave it them to do rather than faff about myself. It was a terrific decision.

My wife's EOS 2.0T worked perfectly. My Golf GTI, exactly the same engine code, did not. They had it back a total of four visits over six days, including plugging the car into t'interweb thingy so that Fritz back in Germany could interrogate it remotely. No success.

In the end, they canibalised a showroom model to swap various control units about until they got a functioning solution and then ordered a replacement part. I believe it was the steering wheel control unit. Note that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the original and it went back in the parts bin. The head technician at the dealer was utterly stumped - all the setup was correct, all the codes, it just wouldn't work.

Maybe you've just drawn the same bum hand that I did??????
