I am due to sign on the dotted line for a new A7 SE 218 PS Quattro with folding mirrors,Lighting pack,Privacy glass,High beam assistant& 20 inch x9J 5 spoke W design alloy wheels contrast grey partly polished
in Midnight blue.Car is a stock car and hence a heavy contribution from dealer to attract me.My question is the wheels diamond cut?,dealer is including wheel and tyre insurance so should I worry about the kerb damage which will happen eventually.Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

Not sure how much is in it but I've read/been told the diamond cut alloys can only really be repaired a small number of times before it can't be repaired - 2-3 times is what I've recently been told but I'm not 100% myself on it.
Having said that, this is the first time I did NOT go for the insurance on alloys...and sure enough 2 weeks after getting the A7, I kerbed it.
I did however get the tyre on its own - even without discounts, it seems silly not to unless you're guaranteed not to get damaged tyres/flats/pothole damage etc. Both our Audi's have claimed atleast once on it and as we got it for around the £200 mark, just one claim paid it off.

It is something you can haggle on a fair bit though - first time I got it thrown in, second time half of the £500 odd they wanted

    Congrats on the potential purchase!

Maybe try these. Could be a good alternative?

A member on here had one of them come off and damage his body work. If you are worried about the diamonc cut finish on the wheels maybe go for a different design of wheel?

I am sure most of you are aware of new A7 coming out, is it next year?,My possible order has potentially changed to a 272 SE Quattro with Tech pack and folding mirrors in same colour.Again the dealer is knocking off a massive 32% from list price of 55.5K.I wonder why ,they want the deal completed before month end is what they say.Do I wait for next year or go for this one?I did a test drive in a similar car and I was happy with the handling and the quattro ,coming from A6 2 .0 liter Stronic car.

I doubt a new A7 is coming out, the latest one has only just been released.

Had them on my last 2 cars. On my second set on my A6. They have done 77k during my ownership of the car with no issues at all except for when I did kerb the wheel on a kerb swerving to avoid a truck.
The protector dislodged for about 1/4 of the rim but simply deflating the tyre and knocking it back in did the job.
77k miles and my wheels are unblemished. I pick up my new car in a few days and will be fitting a set immediately I get the car home.

Hi - Not sure about the W design wheels but I have the 5 twin spoke design 20 inch wheels. They are very large wheels and the A7 is very wide and I have now kerbed all 4 over the last 2.5 years. I have found it harder in this car to discern exactly where the edge of the car is and the edge of the wheel due to the body lines. Mine are diamond cut and it would cost about £150 a piece to repair as new as they have to be recut. I have not had any issues with tyre damage and have just changed the pirelli tyres after 38K (2WD model)
Hope you are getting a very good discount - I would be going for at least 25% off list price.
