    Morning all!

Picked up my new Q7 on Friday and have the Audi comp insurance for five days.

I'm normally insured via Halifax and they're refusing to insure it as it doesn't have a tracker, and if I do get a tracker it's then £3900 a year despite my ten years no claims.

Has anyone else had similar issues and should I get a tracker installed perhaps?

Suggestions on good insurers would be greatly appreciated too please

    Hi There!

Welcome to the forum. There was another thread on here somewhere talking about insurance policies so just have a quick search.

However I'm with Privilege and unfortunately cost of insurance has gone up this year but I'm paying £650 or thereabouts.

I'm sure within the thread somewhere some of the gang here were only paying in the region of £550. Last Year I paid £513

I think Aviva are also good to try and they were pretty competitive when I was shopping about. The other main stream insurers came in at over £1k for some reason. Good luck with it

Thanks really helpful, some light at the end of the tunnel if I can find that thread!

One important question....do you have a Tracker or is that price without?

Best bet is to compare quotes online. Everyone's circumstances/postcodes are different so its only relative.

I'm with Direct Line and had to get a tracker fitted. I think I'm just over a grand for both cars on a multi-car policy for me and the wife - and that's with 6 points each and a 50/50 accident from a few years ago. I'm hoping the price goes down a bit when I come to renew in August as most of the points will then be outside of the five-year declaration window but I doubt it based on the increases I keep hearing about.

I also get 10% off as my buildings and contents insurance is with Direct Line too.

My policy last year from new was under £400 from Admiral. I got the renewal last week and it was up to £650 and got them down to £550 - online searches were only coming out better with huge excess. I followed Max's advice and Aviva came out at £400. No tracker required either.

I've got no points (but 3 in last 5y), 18 years NCD and only do up to 8k miles pa.

Thanks all. Called a few and ended up with Aviva who didn't request a tracker and came in under £400 for the year. Audi insurance refused to insure their own car unless it has a tracker, and Halifax wanted £3900!!

Really helpful from you all, thanks again
