Whats the difference between Vagcom and VW dealer software? Ive had my Bora 130tdi (hopeless driving off in 1st and not much better when moving)scanned twice at VW, with no faults found.Would vagcom pick up the fault, and if so does anyone now a garage in the gwent area who could fix it.
    Thanks for any help.

What is wrong with it ? (bit more of a desription than a bad pickup).

But yes, with vagcom used via a laptop, it should beeasily possible to read and log the appropriate measuring blocks to see if there is anything amiss.

My guess though would be a dud MAF sensor.

Thanks for reply, its very underpowered when cold,i can put the throttle pedal to the floor with no response ,but does improve when it warms up.I've swapped the maf twice ,cleaned egr valve and changed the coolant sensor.Basically it drives like a tractor and VW say theres nothing wrong, they had it overnight and test drove it.I thought if i can find someone with vagcom they might be able to sort it.

I would suggest a like for like car to test as vag com is only a guide and the skill of the operator will determine if there is some issue but you could try reducing if not removing the egr phase from cold start(we are talking about 1.9 pd diesel here).Dealer software is far more powerfull than vag com and there are meny componant tests and scopes. Vag com is a very good tool indeed AND A FRACTION OF THE £9000 5051b

Mine is a 130 with 42k and ive driven a mates which has done 75k and his is much quicker and smoother,i had the maf off it but it was no better, VW say there is nothing wrong ,i paid them to tell me that on two occasions!I think part ex is my only option,it's a shame because its really nice condition and used to be a pleasure to drive, now it just winds me up.

Sounds like your car drives similarly to mine, also a TDi 130.

Mine is heavy and sluggish off the mark, with a horrible hesitancy and lag. Sometimes accompanied by juddering. When cold, the car shakes and idles erratically. Flywheel has been replaced, but the shaking is coming back again.

Basically it drives awfully most of the time. It feels like I'm driving with the handbrake on! MAF has been checked and is OK. EGR has been disconnected, but this makes no difference at all. On top of several other faults, I'm getting frustrated too!

Sounds very much like you got my car.To be honest i'm sick of spending money on it.I find it hard to believe VW are not capable of sorting it.Even by driving it himself their fitter said it was ok,i think that speaks volumes about his ability or he probablly drives a metro,so even a knackered Bora would seem quick .I've read several threads of people with similar symptoms, but no one has the answer.I can only think it must be a mechanical problem rather than electronic because scanning doesn't find it.It will have to go after xmas if i can't sort it, it's depressing to drive.

Earlier this year I bought a Bora (same as my existing one) which drove perfectly. Unfortunately it got written off in a crash. So, I bought another one, and it doesn't drive anywhere near as well as the other one.

When scanned, no fault codes are found etc, and VW can't find anything wrong with it. Mine will be going after Xmas too if I can't get it sorted.
