Today while driving back home I noticed a high pitcher whistling noise. I initially thought it was the turbo but after some investigation I think I've ruled that out.

The noise happens when the accelerator is pressed (or cruise control on) and only when the car is on the flat or going downhill. There is no loss in power and it doesn't make the sound when stationary or when there is any "stress" on the car, by which I mean pulling up hill or accelerating. Tapping the accelerator gives the sound for the same short period but occurs a split second after tapping it.

Is there a fuel return pump to send unused fuel back to the tank? Or could it be something else? Not heard it before and as I say there is no loss in performance so not overly concerned just intrigued at the moment.
