Needing advice on lights. Just bought a 2005 Touran, standard lights etc, coming from a BMW with Bi-Xenon Projectors is a massive step.

    What have you guys done?

What is the general rule on lighting upgrades?

    Hid kit? LED? Bulb upgrade?

    Pulling my hair out!!!!!!!

    Cheers, Mark.

Did you get anywhere with this? I'm thinking the same thing. Tried some standard halogen 130% xenon bulbs after one of mine blew the other week to see if these made any difference but found out the existing bulbs are 120% ones already.

I'm thinking of trying some LEDs as they now produce a single source one like these ones on eBay 60W 6400LM H7 Philips LED Headlight Car Conversion Bulb Beam 6000K KIT Lamp Bulb | eBay but apparently they won't fit behind the caps on our headlights?

Share how you get on as very interested in seeing if our headlights can be improved or not?

    Cheers

    Scott

Would the black 'bulb' show in the projector housing ?

Aesthetically wouldn't a silver one be better ?

My bro has something similar and no you can't see any black. There is a black rubber stopper thing (both are between the bulbs on the above pic) they slide forwards over the wire and cooling fins and give a seal into the light. The cooling fins the splay out to disperse heat. Can't see anything out of the ordinary when looking at the bulb or headlight

He drives the lesser of the two big German brands :-)

I didn't help fit the so god knows how they work as he's is a chimp but I think he cut the OEM rubber caps to take the rubber bung thing (mentioned above) to fit snugly and keep the water/moisture out.

    This video annoys him..

On the topic of lighting upgrades has anyone managed to find and fit any decent led number plate lights?

No idea apart from standard candles in there. My previous B7 Passat had OEM LEDs so I was hoping there would be something similar available for a 2007 Touran but having checked the fitting the Touran uses two screws whilst the Passat was a clip and push in affair.
