i have a mk 4 golf tdi and i am looking at upgrading the speakers, on the doors.

    on the front
firstly what size are the standard speakers?
and secondly if i buy adaptor plates such as these : http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/2005.html
will the door cards fit back on and will modification need to be done?

    on the back
there are no speakers installed in the back doors just wundering if the speaker connectors will still be there?
there are grills already there just no speakers,

what size speakers are ment to be there?
will the same adaptor plates as above fit the back
    thanks,
    Spinks

right the front is 6.5 am sure it is, as for the adaptor plates a dont think you will need them. the back a think is 6.5 as well. yeah the connecters etc will be there as well only reason ano is because a was tryin 2 run my 6x9s off them coz ma amp wasnt powerful enuff.

as for door speakers what kind you goin for ?

Believe it or not, the stock speakers are quite good and can handle a fair bit of power if driven with a clean signal.

I'd turn my attention to amping them first / instead.

dont waste your money on them mate trust me if you want power go for these

    http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/pro...s_id/5769.html

they maybe me 30/40 pounds dear but it will be worth every penny.

    looks @ the Figures:

Infinity door speakers - 2-75 RMS/225 peak power.

Alpine Type R door speakers 110 RMS/330 peak power.

I Have Just Got A Alpine Type S Sub & Its Only 300rms/900 peak But Its The Quality, Etc You Are Paying For, Dont Buy JBL Spl Etc Cause There All Crap. For Another £30 You Can Buy Alot Better Then Again There Is Alot Better Than Alpine As Well I.e rainbow Etc & There About 200+ For Door Speakers Alone.

Basicly If You Want A Good Sound System Commin In @ Entry Level A Would Say Alpine Is The Way To Go Maybe A Little Dearer But WORTH IT!

Thats What You Wire Everything Into Then Run It Into Your Amp Am Sure.

Personally A Would Scrap Your Old System The Lot Of It Even The 6x9s.

    Type R Sub : £100 Or Less
Type S Sub: £80 ish (i perfer the type s to the type r but thats just me)

    Alpine Mono Amp: £100

    Type R Door Seakers: £110

    Alpine Two Channel Amp £70

All In Well Under £400 And A Bet Its The Best Few Hunner Quid You Have Spend In A While. As I Dont Know How Much Your Budget Is, A Dont Know If Thats To Dear For You Or Not. But TRUST ME It Takes Time & In The End You Will Thank Yourself For Savin Up For Gettin A System Like This Just get Bit By Bit Thats What Am Doin.

As For Getting 2 Amps Its A Defos !! If You Ever Run 6x9s/door speakers Your Are Better Getting A Two Channel Amp Rather Than Getting A Big 5 Channel Amp. Puts To Much Power Throught The Amp.

As For Two Subs, A Would Run One Sub, Break It In Get Your Door Speakers Etc Then Ask Your Self If You Want More Bass.If You Do Either Go Big Bucks & Get A Type X Or Go For Another 12 inch sub

Hope Ave Helped You Out A Bit
