I've had my A6 about a month and covered 5500 miles. According to Audi about 6000 miles is average for the 17 litre tank of Adblue. My driving is a mixture of local and motorway. I do about 30k pa therefore based on these figures it is going to cost me to maintain the car in Adblue.
My question is what consumption are you getting and where is the cheapest place to buy Adblue?

Thanks in advance if you respond to this post.

I got about 6kmiles from new before the warning and since then I have added 10l every 5500 miles or so. I am guesssing but higher motorway mileage may reduce the need for Adblue processing. Cheapest place for Adblue is a service station with a pump but these are usually designed for commnercial vehicles and the flowrate is too fast for a car meaning you have to trickle it in. I tend to buy from EuroCarparts, paying about £12 for 10l. I noticed the other day that it is much cheaper to buy it online and collect in store than to buy it in store. BP Service stations, including the one on the M1 near you (Blue Boar?) also seem to sell 10l for about the same price.

Audi will do it for you for £1.50 a litre, with an electronic checkup and wash.

I have a Halfords trade card and bought 20 litres from them this morning for £21. £1.05 per litre is a good deal. Some forecourts sell adblue at 69p per litre, but they're designed for lorries to use and the flow rate may be too quick for our cars.

Seems like early days for us car users needing AdBlue. Can only hope the pumps become available for car use very soon!
    A few solutions I've tried.
There's a useful app from Air1 that locates many adBlue filling stations - truck stops of course! A few I've used (and got well and truly frozen because it takes so long!!) have a magnetic collar available (on request) that supposedly slips over the nozzle and allows the thing to operate without tripping out so easily on a car filling port. Thing is, that although the entry hole looks like the fuel entry size, just inside the bore reduces to a MUCH smaller diameter.
My currently preferred (and cheapest) option is to use the approved AUDI filling hose (available from the country's favourite online retailer ) and a suitable 10 litre plastic drum which I keep topped up ready for the next refill. 'Suitable' means one that has the same neck thread as the filling tube. Not all canisters are the same as I found to my cost first time around. Most of the adBlue drums available from the same online retail outlets referred to above come with their own flexible tube spouts, and these are OK too. I just found the AUDI tube to my liking. I have found that the truck stops are the best place to refill the 10 litre drum. Doesn't take very long and is certainly the lowest price around. Car top-up can then be done anywhere at my convenience and comfort! As advised on other forum posts, just keep everything (drum, filling hose) scrupulously clean - no dust, dirt, oil or grease.
Despite all of the above - market forces and opportunism seem to abound at the moment. Prices are highly variable in my experience. Let's hope for better in the very near future!

Hi First warning at 6300 miles 10l from Halfords £15 with tube, do around 8k a year. At £1,50p/L at say 5000 miles for 10L then for you around £90 a year so about £1.80p per tank of fuel. But consider the road tax gain, BE I think is £30 a year as TDI, non Adblue cars tax is around £140 so a saving each year for you of £20 win win and your driving an A6 ...

I have a 3.0 biTDi which I think has a 17l AdBlue Tank and it lasted 17k of purely motorway miles before the warning came on.

I bought AdBlue from Shell at £22 for 15l

Basingstoke Audi filled mine for a tiny bit over £1 a litre, had a nice cup of coffee and car had a health check....can't see the point in faffing around with hoses and pumps etc with service like that!

Have to agree with you there. Because I couldn't get to an Audi garage I was put through to Audi assist met the technician at my destination and he filled it up for free and gave me the correct syphon tube. I'll use main dealer where I can in the future though.

I just needed my first fill up. I went to the local petrol station with HGV pumps and AdBlue. The nozzle fits but I could only trickle it in until the garage owner lent me a magnet that slips over the nozzle to release a lock in the pump. Apparently HGVs have the magnet in their filler neck. I was then able to fill up happily at £0.67p/l - just over £7 for a full tank.

It would have filled without the magnet but taken a few minutes longer. I'm going to try buying one on eBay for future use.
