    I fitted a K&N air filter to my 2000 1.9tdi A3 - it made a notable diference

    I fitted a K&N air filter to my 2008 1.9tdi Caddy - it made minimal difference

    I now own a 2005 1.9tdi A6 - any opinions on fitting a K&N filter to it?

    They are not cheap.

    It needs to be backed up by a dyno .

    A 200 bhp 1.9 PD Passat took out it's stock panel air filter , it gained just 1 bhp .

    If you want to get more power from a diesel lump, you need more fuel, not more air.

    You'd probably be better spending some time cleaning the intake manifold and EGR, logging MAF and manifold pressure requested and actual to check turbo VNT function, and if needed, spend the K&N money on a new MAF sensor, especially if still running on original MAF with high mileage.

    That it made a big difference to the A3 is odd as it should not have. I still fit them to all my cars though, always have.
