Hi I am going to change my timing belt and water pump as it is due on my 1.6 TDI CAYC engine. I am not sure what torque the new tensioner stud should be torqed to which goes into the engine and the torque of the water pump bolts .
Does anyone out there know the values I require.
    Many Thanks

A couple of pointers, almost every nut and bolt you remove to do this job MUST be replaced with the exact correct specification VAG bolt as they are nearly all Torque To Yield, TTY. There are one or two exceptions such as the injection pump outer sprocket adjustment and water pump bolts. If you don't replace them you could be like the young man we had in today with a Golf 5 GTI and the engine half hanging out as one of the bolts had snapped, it was a very difficult job drilling it out.
Not only is there a torque spec for the consul to block bolts but also a specific sequence, failure to follow the sequence can cause the bracket to break and even snap the mounting lugs off of the block so rendering the engine useless. The tensioner stud has not torque but MUST be carefully hand would into and nipped up with a tiny dot of thread lock and into an M8 thread which has been cleaned with a thread restorer and the top thread cut back back and blown clean. It is imperative that the shoulder at the top of the thread into the head has its radius below the surface of the thread so that the inner bore of the tensioner does not touch the radius or the stud will snap, this is a common cause of new stud failure. Take care changing it. I agree with Crashers comments. Currently seeing a lot of 3rd replacement timing belt failures where the vehicle has just had its 3rd timing belt and fails within week's. My own findings and thought's are tensioner studs either not replaced or torqued correctly. A friend of mine in the AA rang me wanting to know about them as he says he's picking one up a week at the moment.
