Yes, I've also had the same problem. I've lifted the carpet as far as I can to mop up the water but can anybody please tell me how to lift the entire carpet as it's starting to stink. Typically, there's nothing about it in the Haynes manual..

I had this problem, it took a long time to find it. I used a wire coathanger straightened out, and poked around until it emptied. The cavity was full of water, about 5 litres. Now I have a dry smelly car. Greta design. (not).

I syphoned the water out first, then poked around under the servo until the blockage cleared. I did not know there was a second one under the battery, so another job to do.

Had the same problems; water entered through damaged seals of pollen filter housing and door panel. I don't know if you guys already know, but a few months ago VAG Germany ordered in their note (number 51B8) to their dealers to REMOVE the 2 drain plugs under battery and servo completely to prevent future blocking. In Germany the VW clients did get a personal note of their dealership to let the plugs being removed by them, but in my country (Holland) they didn't and moreover a lot of dealers still don't know of the existance of that facory advice.

I have a 2001 Passat estate, 1.9 TDi 130. About 2 weeks ago I noticed a couple of inches of water sloshing about in the rear passenger footwell. I assumed something must have been leaking, like a door seal, but they are all fine. I emptied the water and am now left with damp carpet to try and dry out.

It appears that as I soak up the water and leave it damp for natural drying, the next day there is a bit more water there. Does any one have any ideas where this might by coming from? Is it anything to do with the two rear facing "tubes" under the front passenger seat? Is this part of the heating/cooling system?

Any suggestions would be most welcome!

ours had the same problem at 2 years old . dealers had no idea and wanted £1000,s
    its an easy fix.
the pollen filter housing is glued to an 5-10mm upstand on the bulkhead.
the small upstand should stop water getting into the fan area. this is where your waters coming in.
our car had muck between the upstand and the inner wing, so when it rained the water wenrt over the upstand into the fan area.
i siliconed around the upstand, and refitted the pollen filter housing. we've never had the problem since.
