Lo guys, i just got started with the vag-com set-up, but i'm having a few niggles with my 1994 80 tdi, i keep getting various errors, comm port traffic too high, car not obd2 compatible and controller not responding. I also don't seem to be able to get the vag-com programme to run through my usb ports either, which is a bind. Has anyone used this system on their car, and had success? if so, what version of the programme did they use and what leads? also where there any setting to alter to get a decent response from the car?

Hi, I'm trying to get it working myself, I have the same car, and a 1996 VW Transporter van. It connects to the van fine, and works fine, I just get the 'cant synch error' when trying to connect to the audi.

    Are you still struggling?

yes, still struggling, i have yet to try swapping to another usb port, i've been using usb2 prots and they probably weren't around when the car was made, so could be too quick for it. i've put some more drivers in for the lead and got two versions of the software, but i dunnowhich is gonna work. personal, i don't think vag-com works with cars of this age.

For Ebay / Dummy Cables, you need:

    1. VAG COM Cable

    2. VAG COM Cable Drivers (This one works for me
    http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/CDM/...0Certified.zip)

    3. VAG COM Freeware 311.2 or 409.1 version (minimum) from Ross-Tech

When you plug in the cable and it asks for drivers locate it to the folder you downloaded the above from and select the driver.

Also you need to go into device manager and change the VAGCOM cable to either Com 1, 2, 3 or 4.

If you still need help, let me know.
