Good morning all, I am less than an hour old on this forum, I have a worrying rough idle issue on my A4 B6 2.0 on a scan with a launch obd2 tool it showed cylinder 3 and 4 misfire...which am currently trying to deal with, by purchasing a new set of sparkplugs...to no effect!

Now I noticed that the previous owner applied cello-tape on the air duct leading to the mass airflow metre and now the tape is getting peeled... could this be responsible?

Second issue: I had the dreaded oil pump pick up tube issue, the oil warning lights kept flashing in the middle of nowhere and the car message was "stop driving" eventually I got a VAG mech who opened the oil sump and cleaned the pickup tube created some larger holes ... and gbam! handed my car back after a whole day's work.... Now I noticed that at start up my engine topside gives a chain rattling noise which quietens after 6secs or with a slight rev .... My question...how do I get this noise to go away permanently?

Third issue... I discovered also that the temperature gauge on the dash works when it wants to and that the coolant reservoir leaks mysteriously hence an occasional overheating issue.... any solution?

Thank you.... am trying to love this car....any help would be appreciated... previous cars were the w202 C180, W210 E200.... my first car to be a non-benz

Before you storm off in the Toyota, to answer some of your queries; try moving coil packs from non misfiring cylinders to misfiring cylinders, see if the misfire moves with the coil pack. If so replace. If misfire remains do compression test. Replace cellotaped air ducting with non damaged duct.To cure rattling time chain, replace chain and tensioner. For intermittent coolant loss and overheating, do sniff test in coolant header bottle, check for cottage cheese in oil filler, suspect head gasket, remove head and pressure test, replace components as necessary. For non functioning temperature gauge, replace temperature sender unit.
