Ok I finally got my 65 plate A6 SE with loads of extras, now i know it takes time to get used to all different gadgets and such and am happy with the learning curve, however 2 things have me flummoxed.

    1/ Start stop
2 waggling leg under boot area to open boot lid.

Now I am experienced with Start stop and know that the engine needs to be a certain temperature, and a heavy drain from the battery caused by lights, rear screen de-mist, a/c and other stuff can cause it not to work, so I switch it all off, still no joy. Then a dash message saying start car manually?. so i stop, restart and still no SS. So I stop again, restart and the SS works at the next three lights then the same message again.

Ive spoken with the dealer and he says it won't operate if such and such is on, BUT THEY ARE NOT ON!
Incidentally the details of the previous owner are still in the pack that came with the car and it seems he has had issues with the SS as the Master Cylinder has been changed (by Audi) to sort the issue????? Doesn't seem to have done so. Any ideas people please.

Also, until i read the hand book i did not know that i had the 'waggle your foot beneath the rear edge to open boot' facility. I went out tried it and my word it worked! however now it's stopped. Is there a correct way to waggle my leg?

Any views please as this is spoiling probably the best car i have ever owned.

    Thank you

    Mike

I've had similar to your car in terms of SS but it all depends I think on how good the battery is charged in my case. A fair few of my trips are short and it never works (talking around 15-20mins there and back).
But if I've had a good run on a motorway for instance and then come off, the first set of lights I hit has the SS kick in and it stays like that for a while.

In terms of boot - not got it myself but I've seen plenty of threads on here about it. One thing I remember was rather than a wag, try and kick up as if you are chipping up a football. Obviously don't hit the car :- )

I have a feeling outside air temp has a lot to do with whether it works or not.

You are spot on with the kicking motion NOT wagging the leg. I can get it to work every time now.

    Waggling your right leg?

It only recognises the left leg!

SS, try breaking harder, or if you've already stopped push the brake pedal right down. This is my first experience with ss and I was wondering why sometimes it didn't work, until I tried the above.

In the cold weather my SS won't kick in on short trips. When the weather is a bit better a it usually works from the first time I stop.
