Hi friends, thanks in advance for help.

I have 2 lights appearing on my dash, ESP light is lit up on its logo, and oil sensor light appears on the centre bit where warnings such as low fuel and wiper washer fluid appear. There is a chain of faults/changes which have arose due to these lights

There is a burnt smell in the cabin, a bit like cigarette smoke.

Climate control not working at all.

I've noticed a faulty reading on dash regarding outside temperature appearing in the minuses, its clearly been +6 degrees outside lately.

I have checked the fuse box, the 3 fuses which were blown have been replaced. All fault lights/faults went off/fixed, but within 2 minutes of replacing them 2 of them have blown the fuse again.

So I'm back to square 1 with the 2 fault lights, climate control not working plus dodgy outside temperature.

I'm really confused, nothing makes sense.

I've hooked up vag com and the following codes appear, ECU Load error. see attached.

Please help, sorry for being long winded.

    Thanks

need to check the wiring loom

fuses don't blow unless they are faulty, wrong size etc

if its frosty, your battery gets really tested and any dud cell(s) will throw up an ESP fault ................................... related to the outside temp fault , again cheap to buy

it doesn't cost anything to test your battery or alternator output

the wiring loom, well that's free to have a look by yourself , any rubbing on wires, green gunge present, push all connections together etc maybe buying a new one or perhaps

start with the wiring loom, buy the genuine vcds to read the codes, otherwise the muckabout factor and buying needless parts will far outweigh the cost

I use an autel vag505 and it reads all the codes if your on a budget and resets oil lights/ winds back electronic hand brake if you do your own diy and want a code reader that will future proof yourself for a good while yet

    Hi, thanks for your help.

You know what I replaced the fuses once again. I know there's something tripping it which is obviously causing this to happen.

However, its not tripped again, all seems fine now. Fingers crossed it will stay like this. If not I'll have to follow your advice 👍

    No problem

Fuses are like anything else, you get dodgy batches and cheap makes will not last. The 2006 models have fuses in the cigarette lighters that fail for no reason, just a bad batch/ cheap fuses supplied

as an interest thing, the first thing your age of car does is check the battery at start up.

any fault and the ESP light comes on, as the car thinks theres not enough electricity to work the brakes

The newer model than yours checks the battery after 8 minutes, giving the battery a chance to charge up & warm up. Your car doesn't allow the battery to get charged up, so any dud cell(s) or alternator not fully charging the battery will cause an ESP fault

Cold weather kills batterys with dud cell(s), a bit like putting your dead phone in your pocket to heat up & hey presto the battery by magic has some charge
