Does anyone have a wiring diagram for an A6 1.9 TD 2003 AWX, the Fuse No 5 has blown?
Whilst driving the car on Saturday, an acrid smell appeared in the car, then the heater display lights went out. Tracking back, it the usual fuse 5. I have removed 60% of the dash, plus the NSF wing liner, and visually checked the wiring… I cannot see anywhere, where its burnt.. remove the blower and the smell seems to be inside the heater assembly.. the pollen filter, I have thrown in the bin, really bad burnt smell. Resistor pack fine as well.. Any ideas...

If you are referring to Fuse S5 10A then it supplies the Oil level thermo sender, service interval and Air conditioning system compressor regulating valve. Regards Peter

    Hi Peter,

Yes its the S5 10A, its a dead short somewhere.. just wondered if anyone had a wiring diagram.. I wanted to start disconnecting block connectors, so I could hopefully ascertain where the short took place.. the car stinks of burnt something but can I find it...

There is wiring that feeds up behind the dash, I think its coming from the compressor... just can find where it rejoins the harness, to the fuse box.. just don't want to start cutting open the harness..

    Regards

This fuse feeds the A20 point, you can remove all cables from this point and then connect them back one by one to isolate the issue.

Fuse S5 goes to A20, Connection (15a) in dash panel wiring harness, from there you have multiple cables:

to the E87 - Control and display unit for air conditioner pin d9
to the T10e - 10-pin connector, purple, connector point, A pillar, left , and from there to the G238 - air quality sensor pin 1/15
to the T10o 10-pin connector, brown, connector point, electronics box, plenum chamber, pin 8, from there to D136 Positive (+) connection -2- (15a), in engine compartment wiring harness, from there to the N280 - Air conditioning system compressor regulating valve pin 2
to the T17h - 17-pin connector, brown, connector point, A pillar, left pin 11, and from there to the T14a 14-pin connector, black, in engine compartment front left pin12, and from there to the G65 - High pressure sender pin 3

All cables are black with a red tracer, but can also be green with a red tracer in some points.

It seems there is another person with a similar problem, and his G65 sensor was cracked. Maybe your car has the same issue. Be carefull and if you suspect the sensor, have the system degassed, change it and regas it.

    HI Chema.RB,

I am gearing up to attack it this the weekend, fingers crossed it will be something easy... Thanks for the prompt, if this is an AC related issue, it may take a couple of day to get someone to draw the system down.. Do you have any idea what the resistance values are for the G65 sensor are, when the AC is OFF an the engine is running.. just wondered if I could fit a resistor as a temp work around…. At least the car would be so cold in the morning then.
