I have been fitting a pair of DRL LED lights as an improvement to the poor single reversing light,to my 2.0ltr TDI Highline Plus Estate
I have fitted them under the ledge adjacent to the number plate lights, and the look quite neat.
My problem is I have Blown a fuse, and despite looking at my Haynes Manuel, which shows the 5A fuse in the left hand dashboard
position I remove the cover but no fuses there

    Can anyone enlighten me please

    Thanks Mike

Check fuse holder "C" which is under the left (as you face the rear of car) dash cover. 24 is a 5A, and 30 is a 15A (this is marked as for trailer on my fuse booklet that matches my '06MY)

Most voltages to external lamps are controlled by electronic modules. These have a fail feature that switches off the supply if a fault condition exists, such as short circuit or an unusual load such as extra bulbs added to a circuit taking extra current.
If you don't have access to VCDS to see whether such a fault condition has been stored, try disconnecting the connections you've made,
then disconnecting the battery and tying the lead clamps together to perform a "hard reset". Leave like that for say 10 minutes, then re-connect battery. Has your normal OEM reverse light function returned?

    Thanks RichardSEL
I have checked 5 and 15Amp fuses which seem to be OK
So I'll try disconnecting battery etc, or try to find someone handy with VCDS

    Hi Niall
Not sure about convience unit, but I fitted some superbright eagle eye lights which were unbelievably
bright and I was very pleased with, and no dashboard display problems, but they started to fail. and I decided to replace them with more stylish
Superbright DRLights, but during the changeover I must have short circuited the wiring
I was hoping it was a blown fuse

    Hi Richard SEL
Thanks Just sorted my problem, It's been a few weeks as I have had a Cateract Op, but as you suggested a 'Hard Reset' did the trick,
and the dashdoard error has gone, What would that cost at the Dealership £100 ???
    Thanks again
    Mike

£132 +VAT if they charge only one hour for a VAS scan -- usually they charge two hours on the basis that "they don't know so we can charge what we like".

    I only charge £20.
