Is ReplayGain implemented for Flac files in the MMI for MY2017? I will get my car in March, thus I cannot try it.

    Thanks,

Just to answer my own question. Q7 does not have ReplayGain for flac audio in MMI, I tried on the dealer's car, it did not work.

    Did you opt for B&O?

No, I ordered standard audio. I spent my money on other goodies (HUD, double glazing, etc.).

Some good options there. I love the HUD and double glazing helps make a very quiet car even quieter!

I was curious as to whether you were opting for B&O as I thought Flac was for keen audiophiles I will have to do a comparison but not sure my hearing is good enough to tell the difference.

I tend to just opt for the higher quality MP3. When I rip the CDs to the car I do choose the lossless compression but not sure what format it uses.

As far as I know flac is the only lossless format which plays on MMI. You can ripp CD straight to flac 44.1kHz, which works in MMI. The owner's manual mentions 48kHz, but I recon that the max. When I get my car I will try 96kHz, but probably will not work.

I do not understand why Audi did not implement ReplayGain in MMI. This standard is around for the last 10 years and very usefull when you listen different songs from different CDs and artists with different volume level.

Interesting! I guess I am using flac then!

Do MY17 allow cd ripping by default now? MY16 in the UK you had to enable via coding change which I've never understood.

I must admit, I've not had issues with different volume levels from the jukebox but have when switching between sources.

No, you cannot ripp CD in MY17 either for copyright/legal reason. I ripp my CDs on PC, there is plenty free ripping software. As there is no ReplayGain, I had to run my flac file through normilization software to get the volume same.

I read on this forum that you can set up separate volume level for different sources (to solve your problem). I looked at the owner's manual, which I borrowed from the dealer, and I cannot find how you can set it up, but I am sure I saw this on this forum. I will try to find it.

There's one, I think iPhone via Bluetooth where the phones volume comes into play. Not a big issue for me though.

Might be worth considering the OBDeleven so you can rip direct. Less hassle than having to do it on the PC and transfer on SD Card. Works quite well. Only issue is with the kids NOW 9x CD's as the artist name of the first track is used for the whole CD. Track name is correct.

I'm not sure it's a copyright issue as my BMWs have always had it. I suspect Apple did a deal with Audi when putting CarPlay in to encourage iTunes / Apple Music over CD's

As I mentioned I do normalize the volume on the audio flac file and for that I need PC based software, thus I will not ripp CD straight to Jukebox.

Re. OBDeleven: I am watching VCP who is working on web/cloud based application with DoIP.
