    Hi guys.
Having issues with the temperature gauge on my 2007 B6 2.0 Tdi. It mostly stays at 90 but occasionally flicks up 5-10 degrees and flicks straight down again. Have replaced the temperature sensor recently so I'm not expecting that to be faulty.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated...

What did you have the sensor replaced with? Dealer supplied spare? There are two temperature sensors.
Was this 5-10 flick there before?

Is it an immediate "flick" of needle or gradual increase and decrease? For the latter suspect partial coolant block somewheres.

Does this happen when you've got heating on or off?

What colour is your coolant in your reservoir?

Remove reservoir cap, bring up to temperature. Do you see coolant being re-circulated back by the side spout?

Do you have Climatronic, the two-window heating/aircon display? If so you can monitor coolant temperature in real time there

Hi Richard. I replaced the old one with one supplied by Euro Parts. It's the sensor on the right hand side of the engine block in a plastic housing.
It's an immediate flick of the needle only moving 5-10 degrees centigrade.Sometimes it stays for a second or two and sometimes flicks straight back to 90.
It happens regardless of heater temperature setting.
The coolant is a pink colour.
I removed the small pipe from the side of the reservoir and put it into the top instead. The coolant is coming through as a fast drip.
    I don't have climatronic.
    Hope that helps.

No, but I replaced the sensor 3-4 weeks ago and it's only just started doing it yesterday...

The other thing I forgot to put is the radiator fan is also cutting in and out occasionally too but can't say it coincides when the gauge flickers though

sounding more and more like a dodgy sender. might be worth popping a genuine one in and see if that cures all the faults, before spending much dollar chasing other possibly non existant faults. see, some people never suspect the recent new thing, some people always suspect the recent new thing. i am in the latter camp and 7 time out of 10 it is the new thing thats faulty, especially if it came from china.

Lol... It was my only quick option at the time. My Passat is a Taxi and dealer didn't have the part so had to be Euro Parts to get me back on the road.
