whats the 2.5 tdi passat estate like??

anyone on here own one or have ever driven/worked on one.

i unfortunatly had my 51 plate passat esate 130 sport written off on fri by an un insured driver, but thanks to direct line, they are picking up the bill regardless at no cost to me, which brings a silver lining to what i thought was a horrible situation to be in.

im wondering wether to stick with the model i had before, or go for the td v6? i use the car alot for towing and genral work use, i liked the cloth interior in my old one as it was easy to keep maintained but im sure if i did get a v6 with leater id just have to be more careful!

id like to no what the fuel consumpsion is like, any known issue's this model has etc, as im well aware and used to the problems associated with the 130 pd engine, but that doesnt put me off as there easy to rectify and you cant beat the car when its working well!

thanks for the link, very interesting reading! since posting this thread i had phoned around some vw tuners and they advised me to stick with the pd130.

If you use the performance, the mpg is bad. I get just 22 to 27 mpg urban in rush hour in the depending how bad it is, if it is quiet when I work until 9pm, I get 31mpg! On a long run, I get late 30s. Could probably get more if I drove very gingerly. I'd stick with a 4 cyl. IMO, this engine is nothing special.

thats very bad mpg, i would not be able to live with that, my 130 with a jabba re map still averaged 38-40mpg on combined town and long journeys, and a re mapped 130's performance well out wieghs what the tdv6 can offer, so i have deffinatly decided to stick with the pd engine. oh and servicing is cheaper too
