Just bought this 2000 model passat at auction and have had nightmares trying to get it to run properly. The problem seems to be when it comes onto boost that the car starts to jerk! Tried to diagnose the problem using snap-on scanner, alll seems ok. Have tried MAF sensor off a known good car, replaced the MAP sensor, cleaned out the not too crudded up EGR valve, did extensive checks on all the vacuum pipes and air hoses. Eventually ran it down to local vw dealer to have it put through its paces on their equipment just to be told that they cannot see a fault on it and it would need to be put on their 3-hour test at quite some cost!! It seems to not lack power at all but stuters all the way up the rev range once the turbo starts to work at about 1700 rpm!! cruising speeds the car is fine?? please can somone shed some light on this problem, Thanks

this fault was traced to a blocked fuel strainer in the pick up pump in the tank!!!
