Andy: Its something simple, it all seems to work, its just not lifting left side, im focusing on that left rear as rear should lift 1st, but only getting air to one side, so, level sensor works but no air, cant be both valve blocks, so check wiring to 10 pin connector on valve block, I have wiring diagram to get the colours for that rear left valve, also check vcds, in measuring groups, with error light flashing does it say rear left valve open?

    NEVER give in!!!

R7EHW: just checked valves in VCDS group 7 and they are opening up in pairs nicely. although no evidence on the ground.

    on arriving at car group 4 levels are at L1 -89, 11, -47, 85

    after rising car to L2 -47, 45, -47, 85

No errors on dash or in vcds.

Please explain how I check wiring. Do have a multi-meter but not that used to using it.

Ok, VCDS showing the valves are opening the rear 2 valve while compressor runs, is this correct?

i will send wiring diagram to your email then you can check:

at the valve block 10 pin connector the wire for the left rear valve is colour - Grey/Black stripe, (goes to pin 1 on 10 pin connector) check this wire at the plug is not damaged,

then you can remove the connector in the boot onto the suspension ecu, remove plug and check for corrosion, this wire goes direct from the 10 pin connector on the valve block to the ecu plug pin 11 (same grey/black wire) if co damge to plug or wiring, set multi meter to continuity (touch ends of meter together and it beeps) and then check for continuity at both ends of this grey/black wire.

if wiring good that rear left valve may be stuck!!

    regards

    Andy

Thanks for the wiring diagram and next steps. The electrical issues here are quite new to me so after reading up on wiring diagrams they make sense and I have gone through these and now understand them. I have even marked them up so good with those.

In terms of checking for continuity even after numerous you tube videos I am less than clear as to exactly how to test. My multi meter does not have sound on it. Sorry went the budget route when I bought it as it’s not something I use often. I have therefore set the dial to ohms it shows 1 on the read out and when I touch the electrodes together it reads 0.06 or thereabouts. Am I right in thinking I remove the plug connected to the valve block insert 1 electrode into connector 1 then 1 to an earth. I should then be looking for a reading similar to touching the electrodes together. If I am getting a big number it’s because there is resistance, if it stays at 1 there is no connection and the wire is broken?

Ignition I think should be off for all tests I think too.

Then I have accessed the ECU by the rear wheel arch (inside), however the wires in the plug for this appear well and truly bound up into the plug.

A little guidance would be appreciated. I did spend some time on this at the weekend but just so cold outside at the moment it’s not nice for working on. I do need to resolve though asap though.

    Hi

If checking the wires use diagram to find the pin number at the ecu and the valve block plug, so you touch each end of the same coloured wire using the multimeter to see if it reads zero resistance, not ground, this will give no reading.

    Best regards

    Andy

Gread. Thanks Andy. Assisted by my daughter who is on half term gone through this process and all good. I also disconnected wires from front and rear left level sensors to check those and again all good. Then as per my luck plugged every thing back together and now plagued by a long list of errors, 8 in total.

    01399 relay for level control
    01772 lely control pressure sensor
    0805 sus strutting valve
    0806
    0807
    0808
    01397 venting solenoid
    01770 temp sensor

Just checking if I blown a fuse or maybe my level control unit I guess

No its not a problem, simply clear these errors, everytime you unplug something it sees that as an error, delete all error codes and see what errors return.

    Best regards

Hi Andy, Actually it was a need to unplug and replug the connector into the valve block. I had already tried resetting a number of times. So we are back to no errors.

My thought is that there remains an air leak on front left. the car tries to lift that corner but it falls back down. I have rechecked the point where the airline goes into the front shock and there is no leak there. I may take this aspect back to the garage as they fitted it.

The rear left is still getting no air to it and wires from ecu to valve block all good as are wires from ecu to left hand sensors.

    My thoughts are:-

is airline blocked between valve block and rear left.
    is ecu the problem

I'm wondering do i disconnect both rear airlines off valve block and switch them then test to see what works?
switch rear sensors from one side to other?

    Your thoughts please...

Is rear still down low? When you start the car the error light should flash and if rear is lower than level 1 it should send air to rear, its possible its the valve not opening,

If you remove airlines at rear to feel if air flows out do you get air out the left hand rear?

Okay. No air to rear left while rear right has inflated itself after I deflated it again. When both rear bags were flat the front end was sitting nicely and visually nearly level albeit I hadn't connected up the laptop this morning.

Since the valve block is new what next?
