Steam from exhaust, slight tapping, abnormal tick over

Hi everyone,

I've just recently gone to my audi A4 2.8 after leaving it for a couple of months as I work at sea. It had dumped all of the oil and coolant water. I replaced the oil and the water and began to drive. I have had a couple of problems:

1) There is alot of steam emenating from the exhaust
2) Theres a slight tappety sound when in tick over
3) Tick over seems to be very low, around 700rpm and occasionally cuts out

It is not overheating and there doent seem to be any abnormalities when driving. I was thinking that stale petrol may cause this steam as it does smell like fuel. Any help would be appreciated

Hi Had That Problem On My (v8ford)after 2-3 Mts Standing It Wose Condinsated Water In The Exsorst Box.i Hope It Helpt
