Alright so recently I bought a 2001 a4 b6 quattro and everything was perfect when I viewed the car. When I was driving it home the timing chain slipped causing 4 bent intake valves.

I pulled the engine apart and replaced the valves with spare valves from an auq head that I had lying around

Here is everything i replaced while i was in there.
Head gasket (reused the old head bolts)
    timing belt kit
    timing chain tensioner + chain
    stem seals
and a new turbo k04-015 (the bolt was missing from the compressor wheel and the fins were chewed up)

When I had everything pulled apart I decided to remove some things like the sai, the 2 solenoids under the manifold and the dv. I also removed all the breather hoses because they were all destroyed. The holes for the breather just vent to atmosphere.

    Now to the problem.
After all this the car starts and idles perfect and drives normal under about 2700rpm.
When I go above 2700rpm the car instantly loses all power and will barely accelerate but the power does not come back until I go below 2700rpm again.
If I let off the throttle before 2700 I can clearly hear the turbo flutter but after 2700 there is nothing.

I checked with vcds and the only fault I'm getting is Catalyst efficiency below threshold.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Oh and sorry about the long post.

You re used the old head bolts, they are stretch bolts and one use only.
Removing the breather hoses allows the engine to draw air in and the fuelling will be fubarred.
Removing the SAIP, did you plug the hole in the airbox? This would allow unfiltered air in.
I'm not sure what you mean by removed the DV, bypassed N249 maybe?
What was it that slipped, the timing belt or the timing chain on the cam chain tensioner.

    1. Yes I reused the old head bolts but i don't have a compression tester to check if the head sealed.
2.the breather hoses are for the crankcase and camshaft cover, removing these will not cause any ill effect.
3.the air box has been removed also and everything to do with the sai has been removed so not unmetered air is entering the engine.
4.By dv I mean the diverter valve has been removed and the holes all plugged.
5.the cam chain solenoid failed and the chain slipped so the intake timing was wrong and bent 4 intake valves.

Thank for the reply. I appreciate the help.

Well, there's your answer, how is the turbo supposed to work without a diverter valve. It's there to bleed off pressure, without it the ECU will see overboost via the MAP sensor in the intercooler and will simply close the throttle body to protect the engine.

I have removed the diverter valve from these engines before and they run without problems. When the throttle is open there is no excessive pressure in the system and when the throttle closes the pressure won't matter.

You're last statement " when the throttle closes the pressure won't matter" well that's the point where the diverter valve would open, the reason for this is in the interest of the longevity of the turbo, without the diverter valve the pressure has nowhere to go, the result is the turbo that was spinning at up to 200,000rpm's will now be forced to stop dead. The turbo won't last long, the flutter sound that you hear is evidence of that, you can listen or not, I just had to inform you.
