    Hi Guys,

Recently had her in for new prop shaft; hoping that would cure bad shaking and vibration under hard acceleration.

Shaft was replaced, but the vibration remained, albeit lessened.

If it wasn't totally the shaft being the problem, what else could it be?

Any answers would be gratefully received.

    Thank you.

one of the driveshafts maybe, or clutch. i would have expected a rear diff bearing would have been spotted when fitting the prop. what frequency is the vibration. is it wheel speed, i.e once per revolution of a wheel so wheel, wheel bearing or driveshafts, or is it faster, like prop speed, or does it alter with which gear you are in or just with roadspeed.

    Hi zollaf,

Thank you for replying so quickly.

She had a new clutch earlier on this year. Garage said that they had looked at the rear diff, but that was ok. They did put in a new bush in the rear... something or other, which was worn, but again, to no avail.

New wheel bearings this year. It's more prop speed. When loading her up, vibrations run centrally down the chassis. Changing gears doesn't alter vibration. Driving at a constant speed is fine, but when accelerating, the vibration is felt.

all the signs of prop bearing. only other likely culprit could be the diff bearing i spose.. or gearbox..

prop bearing would be covered with the new prop, I hope...

I'll give the guys a couple more days, if nothing happens, I'll get her back and then perhaps try to sell her 'as is'.

Gotta sleep now, will log on again tomorrow.

Thanks for all your help so far mate,
