Stumbled upon something very interesting today: NaviTouch® Android - Audi A6, A7 (4G) MMI 8" Android touch system, GPS, Wifi, 3G USB, SD - YouTube

Has anybody seen something similar in action?

Yes, I found the website but also found the same thing for much less on Alibaba. Nonetheless, was wondering if there is any real life experience with this (or similar) systems out there... It does look like a straightforward instal (bar the additional touch foil that goes over the screen). I know it is a very long shot but worth asking...

It is possible. But you must be very handy. The dongle is just plugged in as an multimedia device. The de touch foil is pasted on the originaln screen.
I've done this on my old ride A4 B7 with the rns-e but It is a very very secure job cause you need to take apart the screen.
