aye, has to be worth a try. the only thing that gets me, is the fault code appeared and replaced the original fault code after the first throttle body was cleaned, same code two throttle bodys... ive seen on other forums wiring and ecu being the worst case relating to 00282 - Throttle Position Actuator(V60)
    26-00 - Output Open

if it was in your workshop, youd try another throttle body first?

From the incorrect idle switch reading I would have fitted an OE throttle body or refused to go any further. I have reached the point of refusing to use any second hand parts of any description, over the last 30 odd years they have cost me so much time and stress that it is no longer worth it.

If the cable is detached and the TB spotlessly clean I can't see what else 00282 can be. We need to delve deeper into the wiring so I need the cars build month so PM me your reg.

You may need a new plug, terminals or terminal extraction tool.

It was built 05/05/99, the plug you need is VW part number 4A0 973 714 G which is £9 and the repair wires you need are 0.5-mm, 000 979 019 EA @ £5.04 each (they are double ended and you would need 3) and 1.0-mm, 000 979 131 EA (you need 1) @ £3.65, that is if all the wires need repairing, using a terminal extractor you could save some.

Was the throttle body matched to the engine in Basic Settings 098? Are there a fault codes stored? A common failure is the power steering pressure switch, you have to watch it in measuring blocks as it does not always come up as a fault code.
