Living near Larkhill ATM with the mother in law while mrs is tending to house and fish tanks back up north, hoping to move to Devizes ish. Working in Swindon.

Definitely want a remap in the new year after exhaust, proper EGR delete and maybe a bigger turbo has been sorted. Looking into a used bv43 from a BRD?

Need to do a full engine check and clean before then, manifolds etc. Make sure it's on top form. Can't get a straight answer about clutch either. I've spoke to various tuning places that keep telling me standard 228mm clutch (LUK) will hold 300lb.ft (400nm) of torque before it slips providing the map is smooth with no nasty spikes.. but I'm sceptical of this. Would be nice to get it mapped with the same result as a mapped AVF.

New 228mm clutch will hold 300 lbft but not forever .

BV43 remapped has 350 lbft and needs a Sachs SRE organic .

Aye. I've just forked out for the one that's in it which was £400ish. So don't want to ditch it too fast for an upgraded one. Don't want a 6 speed box either if I'm honest.... currently on a Genuine LUK DMF &clutch kit. I under stand it won't last its "100k lifetime" if I put 300lbf through it but I don't mind as long as it lasts a while...

So I would be looking at full exhaust system, EGR delete and a remap for time being. What you reckon I could squeeze out of it assuming everything was in good condition? Gets 6 monthly oil changes anyways. Bit tatty round the edges but mechanically looked after very well if I do say so myself.

Cool. That would be nice. When clutch wears out I'll see if I can find an upgrade. Don't really want to go SMF but suspect DMFs are sketchy enough with 285nm never mind 380~400+.

Cheers for the help and pointer though Gaz, much appreciated. At least I know where to aim now.

Look in Colin's ( 3rd environmental crim , lol ) AWX build thread for the two piece I mentioned which replaces a 1 piece .

You can get 1 piece 2.5" from Darkside , but you have to pay for it .

Yeah I've just had a look. Not bad. Getting the pipe off the Turbo looks interesting. I had a go a couple of years back when removing the gearbox but nuts were solid. Ended up ratchet strapping exhaust over lol.

I've also been having a look on the powerflex website at poly bushes. They any good? Worth the effort of putting in? Very expensive for a full set though... :/.
