I am buying winter tyres with non Audi wheels.

Do I need any form of TPMS sensor?? Or does the system (which I believe uses the ABS) not need one in the wheel?

Do you get individual pressures and temps on your screen? If so then yes, you'll need valves but if it is a simple reset and warning then it uses abs pulses and doesn't require the sensors.

Thanks for the response. It is the latter - reset through the MMI. Nothing giving individual pressures or temps like I have seen in some cars.

So looks like it could be quite simple then?

What's the smallest wheel you can put on an A7. I'm looking at some Audi 18" wheels and winter tyres. Will they fit?

    I am not entirely sure.

The stock wheels come in 19-21" - I think that smaller may be possible. However my insurer said they would only provide cover under my existing policy if the wheel was within the OEM range so I have gone for 19".

The cost of alloys and tyres for 19" is only slightly more than buying the 20" tyres alone. It also has the benefit that I can change my own wheels and my summer wheels are also saved from exposure to salt.

I've just bought my full set of winter wheels and tyres. I have 20's in the summer and gone for 19's for the winter. The sizes that are recommended are on the tyre pressure sticker inside the drivers door.

I've got 20" fitted at the moment. On my last car it was a right pain swopping tyres twice a year, so I'll look out for some 19s. Thanks
