Alarm bells! You got the old ones back? From VW they are exchange and the only other company I know that does them is Standard, who used to be Intermotor but changed their name.... So what have they fitted?

Thanks for the reply and the brilliant info Crasher.
Again I will have to check, unfortunately I'm away from home at the moment so can't see the car. But I know they were definitely replaced, they may have been refurbished items but definitely weren't the same ones that went back in as we still had them when we picked the car up.

    Cheers
    Steve

If they were not genuine then I have no idea where to go in helping, I simply won't use anything else as if you have a problem you have no one to turn to, I have been there too many times. I often turn work away like this when people won't make use of the bad experiences we have suffered in the last 30 years.

Update!! Having spoken to the garage, the injectors were sourced through Europarts and came in genuine VW packaging and were fitted as per the procedure. However the car has been sent to another garage, ( a diesel specialist). The injectors have been removed again and sent for test and all 4 have subsequently failed!!! Europarts don't except the report and have sent them off for their own testing. So I'm waiting on the results of that.
Also it did throw up some fault codes, 01650, cylinder 2 glow plug circuit and 04709, cylinder 2 pump/injector valve-N241 valve below lower limit???
The injector loom has now been replaced along with No.2 glow plug. The cam has been checked and in the words of the mechanic "perfect" . He did say that when he took the oil cap off there was a chuffing noise, don't know what that indicates???
Is there anything that could cause the failure of what will be 12 injectors to fail on this car???

We did a set last week and budget constraints forced us to use Bosch exchange injectors, so far so good.

i think i would be removing and inspecting the tandem pump. this feeds the injectors directly so any swarfe its creating will go straight into them.

Update!!! Apologies, I've been away with work. I've had the car back finally after a battle with Europarts who had the injectors away for testing in Germany. They finally agreed and honoured the warranty, so all 4 have been replaced AGAIN. The car is still the same! Hard to start from cold, noisy and stinking of diesel. It still runs fine once warm and is still not showing any fault codes. I'm at the end of my tether and don't know where to go from here, I don't want to run it in case it does more damage.
Are the tandem pumps known to break up internally? Is there anything else known to go wrong in the fuel system that could cause these symptoms?
    Any help much appreciated.

    Steve.

We did the tandem pump on one of these last week, it had been occasionally refusing to start quickly and sometimes left an embarrassing little puddle of diesel on the floor. After a new tandem pump it has not refused to start (BUT then again it never did it for me) but it does feel a little more sprightly and enthusiastic, or it could be me. Have you checked the in tank lift pump is delivering and is the fuel filter is newish? When the injectors have been replaced, have they been carefully set up at full lift?

I've had that in previous Passats where the gasket had gone on the tandem pump and was letting air into the system and diesel out. I haven't got any fuel leaks and the filter is newish. If anything I think it's getting too much diesel. The garage tells me they followed the correct procedure, I printed off the one you sent last time. Is ithe Set up an easy thing to check?

No, not really. Which car are we dealing with here, the 3B or 3C?
