There's also a drain for moisture from the a/c in the passenger footwell area and the rear washer fluid (if avant) pipe runs along the passenger side. Washer fluid leakage is common.

So it's a saloon then, no washer hose, the ac drain is behind the glovebox to the right. More likely though is water ingress through the pollen filter housing which is directly above the passenger footwell area in the engine bay, under the scuttle. Maybe check that rates for a build up of leaves & crud?

What about the condition of the pollen filter seal?, it's made of foam and turns to sludge. I resealed mine with stixall.

I'm all out of ideas other than that, is there a sunroof perchance? (Drain holes/hoses clogged), or perished door seals (not sure this'd be very likely anyhow)..., maybe someone else will have more suggestions?

There should be a black cover across the whole plenum chamber. Covers battery, brake servo, ECU, pollen filter etc. You should need to pull the rubber seal off the lip to get it off? Without this, I imagine water would run straight off the windscreen and into pollen filter like a funnel...
