sorry engine is a 2.0 tdi and when I try to start it the parking brake does flash. all other lights are normal. the AA fella put some "sniff" in the air intake (I guess its a can of fuel) and it started but as soon as he stopped spraying the engine shut off again.

I filled up the night before and it had just over 1/4 tank. I drove for 230 miles yesterday with no problems and it happened when i went to the shop last night. About 2 miles

probably not that then. so many things it could be though, timing belt being one of the worst.

My timing belt was changed about 8 month ago. But i have always thought it was running a little rough from the change but the garage said it was fine

one thing i have noticed this morning is the EGR valve is making a buzzing noise and it has flattened the battery. it is as if there is contant power going to it without the key in the ignition!!!

Sounds like the egr valve is stuck open dumping exhaust gas in the inlet manifold.are you sure its the egr or manifold flap.

I am sure it is the EGR valve as i have had it off and cleaned previously. The sound is like a high pitched noise if that makes sense
