Although you said the battery area was bone dry, previuosly you mentioned it was full of water....ive just had a few beers and on the jd now, but im sure im right

Yeah it was dry when I bought the car.
Then there was very heavy rain and I noticed a slightly wet carpet in the passenger footwell so I investigated and found that the plenum chamber was full of water.
That's when I drained it.
That was a month ago.
I've owned the car about 6 months.
Prior to my ownership it was an MOD car and had been parked up indoors off road for some time, so unlikely it was wet then.

I think I'll have to see what happens, but if it all goes dead again what do you think would be the likely culprit?
Electrically what sits under the battery area that could have gotten wet?
Is there an easy way to access and investigate that area?

Your breaks are seized in some way. As soon as breaks are pressed it completely cuts out fuel to the engine.

Would that make the entire electrical system shut down completely?
Like no lights at all?

It puts it at tick over.

Basically I did a break change front and rear, I attempted to bed the breaks in a little faster by doing 30mph with the breaks on for a couple of seconds then off then on again, all whilst staying at 30mph.

Needless to say every time I touched the breaks with throttle open the car would slow down exactly as if my foot was not touching the accelerator pedal at all.

I think what it does (crash safety feature i think) it cuts diesel to the engine except for enough to run I.e tick over.

I am driving the Alhambra PD130 I'm not sure if its an engine thing or seat thing.

I don't think it's got anything to do with the brakes at all.
Having driven the car 270 miles in the last 2 days I strongly believe this is an electrical fault brought on by water ingress somewhere caused by the plenum chamber flooding and soaking some electrical components/cables/connectors.
The car has since done it again over the last few days, but my temporary cute is to start the engine and let the car idle for 5-10 mins and then it's 100% perfect.
I'm taking it to the garage on Monday regardless to get the problem investigated and hopefully cured. But that's my personal diagnosis for now.

I'll update this post with the results and conclusion from my visit to Vagtechnik.

Have you checked the plenum drain points etc?
