    Heres the good stuff.

    My grubby alternator 028 903 025h - 70 AMP

    Broken D+ connector to alternator

Better view of the problem on the connector - was the same issue on the connector near the exhaust

Alternator control side with regulator - 3 phillips screws to remove the cover. Plastic, then 3 release tabs and a gentle pull will release.

(Sorry missed this one - regulator location slip rings etc on the alternator - regulator part: 028 903 803D for this alternator) Also as an additional note, that looped brass contact is a ground contact - make sure its clean on both sides, regulator and spring contact.

This is why you dont run out of junior pins, couldnt uncrimp the wire this time round once I removed from the new socket (Junior power timer female connector). Crimp, heatshrink and mass tape at 9PM at night. Now I have too much wire! Taped up the old wire on both ends of the rubber sleeve. Will get back to this, just glad it works for now.

    Loom failure points of interest

Broken clip, rubbing on engine bracket and loom. It shaved through some insulation.
Also worth checking the state of the CTS wires that run under the distributor, right next to the main engine near to the thermostat.

B+ battery positive to starter. That fat brass contact has given me more grief than I can remember. Sharp edge, will eat through the hard plastic wire wrap.

    Injector loom, wire insulation cracked.

I would love to spend a couple of weeks making a new loom. If I only had the time!
    151 PS @ 3800 rpm 1.6 8V MPi - 31.5mpg urban <-- Happy days

123k On the clock and counting. (25k on the block)

    I need all your V-Powers.
