1999 1.8 20v feeling ill

i have a 1999 1.8 20v passat apt engine code,yesterday i replaced the belt tentioner,cleared out the drain bugs as the battrie was in 3" of water,but i have noticed a few strange noises,around the inlet manifold a strange farting ticking noise,when the car is running and you press down on the accelrator quick there is a flat spot with a whorping sound as if the air filter is missing,and a lack of power,the only way i can discribe it is"if you had clutch slip and then it bites,it will then run away with you".
i hope some one can make out my woffle,and shed a little light
i am going to change the air mass meter tomorrow,see if this helps?

changed the air mass meter today runs good,and not missing any more
but i still have this strange noise around the inlet manifold,a farting ticking noise,also on fast kick of the accelrator a hissing noise from the throttle body,is the normal
