    Hi guys
So new account here. lost access to old work email for old account. Not a criminal, genuine enthusiast just have acquired different tastes than you guys over the years.

Owned a MK4 golf for 9 years, for the past 4 years its been sat locked, unmoved in a barn.

Ive since had other cars, moved house a few times and during the process misplaced my only key i had for the car.

I kept the car as my old man bought it new and passed it onto me when i started driving, so it holds sentimental value.
I've now bought a gas gussling jap machine and i started to look at buying a diesel for commuting. then i remembered i still had this locked away.

After weeks of searching i do not have a key, it is locked. Battery dead.

I can get into the car quite easily (a bit upsetting at how easy these things are to get into without a key).
But getting the steering lock off to be able to transport it to my current place where i can get working on changing oil and such before i fire her up. (also need a key to fire her up!)

I need a new key, I dont fancy a 180 quid bill from the dealer, the car is prob worth less than that (MK4, 90 Non PD. 240k miles)

I dont mind disabling the immobilizer (if somebody can advise how).
I dont mind buying keys/barrels from scrappers.
I am computer literate and have played with VAG Com before i still have the software and cable. (although not sure if this is what i need for re-coding keys etc...)

Can somebody advise me how i can get about getting this old girl running.

Also if anybody in the Yorkshire region looking for some coil-overs (if mine are still in good condition) would be willing to straight swap for standard suspension. (My back wont be able to take what it used to!)

What year is your car (tenth digit in VIN)?

I have a remote key around but that will only work for MY2003 cars on (with an uncut blade).

I would recommend you buy a second hand lock and key(s) from someone (lots of people are breaking cars on ebay - try to buy ALL locks and keys off them). You can send your speedo to me and I can dismantle it and read the EEPROM and send it back to you with login code for immobiliser - or I can post you a speedo with known login code but unless it's immo2 or you know code I would also need yours (I currently have two 160mph diesel clusters for manual transmission here). I can also supply you with new transponders if you buy second hand keys. I will be able to tell you with some confidence if it is immo2 or 3 from VIN.

PM me your exact location in Yorkshire and I can see if I am there for work in near future.... though think the closest I'll be to Yorkshire is Cambridge for a while!
