    Evening All,

This evening I have noticed that MY2015 BE's bonnet sensor is kaput (or at least I think so). The in-dash warning shows the bonnet is not closed. I have tripled checked that it is but still the car thinks it isn't. Linked to this is when I lock the car the lights do not blink. I have done some digging on the forum and found the following thread: Bonnet Sensor which seems to confirm the bonnet sensor theory.

Just thought I'd ask you all for your views - has anyone had their bonnet sensor/switch go recently? I'm hoping you are going to reassure me and tell me that the fix is quick and easy!

    Many thanks.

Should still be in warranty given the age and depending on miles.

Thanks Chris, yes, I bought the car new and still well below the warranty mileage limit. Will get it booked it in.

It might not be the sensor. There are two bonnet catches on the C7 - one each side. One might be working but the other might have seized - can you lift either front corner of the bonnet after it has been shut? This happened on my previous C7, and the fix was to free off and lubricate the seized catch.

Thanks MF for the suggestion - just checked and my bonnet is firmly shut. I did have a look at the two catches you refer too - both seem to be moving (springing) freely. I've called Audi to get it booked in but thanks again.

I have had the same problem. Bonnet was closed but dash showed open. Because of that, my wipers didn't working. I had to replace two bonnet catches Cost me about £160 in locla non-Audi garrage.

I had the same problem on my old A7 and called out Audi Roadside as I was concerned about the bonnet flying open on the motorway.

All the technician did was clean and lubicate the sensors with a bit of WD40 and job done.

Hopefully this may work for you too

Thanks DNO_UK, much appreciate the tip - which I will try shortly. Sorry if this sounds daft, but are the sensors located on or near the two latches which sit either side of the underside of the bonnet?

There are 2 springs that sit at the back of the grille, they should touch 2 pads located on the underside of the bonnet when everything is closed.

It's the springs that may need a clean/bit of lubrication.

There is a micro switch which activates when the lock is closed. hence why each lock has a wire attached to it.
