    Hey,

I have a 2004 A3 1.6, every so often the epc and traction lights comes on and the car go's into limp mode. When I turn the car off and back on and it clears it and it might not happen again then for a few weeks. Then it might happen 3/4 times while I'm driving an hour down the road. I had my mate plug the car into his comp and get the fault codes. So hoping someone might have an idea what might be causing it. I have noticed that the wire loom going to the throttle body had been cut and reconnected just before it plugs into the throttle body, the last owner had cut and rejoined for what I don't know. but the connections look ok.

    Thanks in advance.

Well those faults certainly look like there may be an issue with the throttle unit/wiring (if the codes are permanent).
I presume these codes were pulled from the engine ecm. Are you able to do a scan of the ABS module? If you can post those codes, that would be helpful.

I got another scan done. Again the car is driving fine. The odd time to while I'm sitting at traffic lights I notice the car revs a little uneven. revs past 1000 then just drops back to around 600/700 then back up past 1000. The aircon is off too when that happens.

    Thanks in advance.

If the wiring loom has been messed with, its integrity should be checked first.
If it tests okay, I'd give the throttle a clean and relearn the control stops (basic settings) with VCDS. At this point, ideally, air intake should also be checked for leaks. Also worth monitoring throttle position and accelerator pedal position in measuring blocks (plot on graph).
Let us know how you get on.
    Good luck.

I had a very similar problem. Kept going into limp mode under hard acceleration. Turned out to be the turbo actuator.

dontclickonthis, do you have updates on this issue? Tomorrow I'll take my 2006 Audi A4 1.8T to service center, with exactly the same error codes and vehicle reaction. I will write back soon, I hope

    FIXED.

After a month in a service center, changed Speed sensor, cleaning and adapt Throttle body, the issue still was active. Finally we try with Throttle body replacement.
    Not a solution

Finally, in different service center, the reason was found. Water in the computer. It was able to be repaired, for my luck.

Guys, check your computers FIRST, before taking a decision for parts replacement.

    Good luck
