wondering if anyone who has just recently replaced their battery with an OEM battery can provide a serial number and a BEM number ?

i purchased a Varta Silver F18 Battery , but it has no details that i can input into the battery coding , the spec is as follows 85 AH , CCA 800 A

Im told that this was the battery for my A6 , as i was having problems with what i think was a defective battery that had deteriorated through age , that was a Bosch S4 010

I have Ross-tech Hex-can vcds, and can get into the coding section but need numbers to input

    any help most welcome

    Thanks Greg

Simply change one number out of the ten which come after the manufacturer code. I changed from VAO0605080681 to VAO0605080680. It doesn't have any kind of logic to determine what manufacturer the battery is - it just wants to know it's been changed. Even if you didn't change anything, it would work it out for itself that the battery had changed from its improved charge / discharge characteristics. Code changing only speeds up the adaptation of the battery monitoring to the new battery.

I enabled battery monitoring in the hidden menu but all this shows is a scale from 0 to 100% but no pointer. Does this suggest the last owner may have changed the battery without updating ? What can I do to enable a proper view of battery charge ?

are sure you have the most up to date software think by memory it's 5570, you can buy discs for around £20 on eBay ( mines were OK but I cannot guarantee if you go down this route ) after that it should show the battery state in increments on the display

Mines not 5570 (which is the latest) but I still have a segment battery gauge in 10% blocks from 0% to 100%

Yep, MMI updated to 5570 before I even washed the car. The battery monitor just looks like a blank red scale

If it is a fully red scale then you are laughing it's 100% ,just leave the ignition on and the battery monitor on the screen and you will see it drop

    1. Battery monitor is a pretty inaccurate measure of anything.
    2. Genuine software update discs are only 7/8 quid from Audi.
