Apologies for my non technical description on this, when I start my diesel (2.0 bluemotion) up from cold I get a lumpy idle, e.g. it doesn't feel like the engine is ticking over as smooth as it should. Rev gauge seem to fluctuate rather than a smooth start.

I blip the accelerator and it settles down and is fine after a couple of seconds. I don't get this once warm. I was suspecting battery, but I'm not so sure now.

    Any ideas?

Replace Coolant Temp Sender Unit with a genuine one

Take it your waiting for glow plugs to go out, wait 2 seconds & then start ?? The 2 seconds allows the glow plugs to work their magic as they still heat up after the light goes out

What's the reasoning behind swapping out the coolant temp sender unit?

Yep, I'm waiting for glow plugs to go out. The light goes out really quick, and I've been leaving for around 20 seconds before starting up, which does seem to help.
I've also put some RedEx to help clean the injectors, etc.. So a combination of these things seems to be reducing the effects.

I'm trying to find someone locally that can help out with the VCDS scan.
No, hasn't been called in, for "the fix".

Interestingly the idle issues have calmed down, but when I pull away the revs fluctuate up/down. A couple of seconds of driving and it's fine and calms down.
