Afternoon forum, I've just joined the Audi fold with a 98 B5 1.9 TDI (110) Quattro. What I acnt seem to find is a manual that deals with the 4 wheel drive system, maintenanace and repair. Ive acquired the good old Haynes but that doesn't cover Quattro's. Can anyone recommend anything I can purchase / download to give me guidance plaese ?
    All help gratefully recieved !
    Thanks.

    Welcome to the forum.

Quattro drive systems are on the whole maintenance free. If there's no clunk on acceleration or tell-tale groans, then leave well alone. Hard lock to hard lock steering, then the car tyres will feel like they're scrubbing. This is perfectly normal. This isn't recommended anyway as you'll simply stress your CV joints and boots if they are worn.

If your car is a potential keeper, and you want to show it a little love, then the rear differential could use a gear oil change over 100k miles. Potential issues arise as the oil breaks down and loses its viscosity. It takes around 2 litres. Always remove the filler plug first, before removing the drain plug. Weeping drive shaft seals are easy to pinpoint as the diff will be wet. More details here: AudiWorld Tech Articles

For a good manual between Haynes and a full-blown factory job, a printed Bentley Service Manual for A4 1996 to 2001 1.8 T and 2.8 is available (not diesel versions). Publishers are bentleymanuals.com. They also have manuals available for download which are not available in printed form.
It is produced in the USA, so there are a few variations from European models.
I bought mine in February for quite a good price (£42) on Amazon UK
