    Hello,

Just recently registered here and am hoping someone can help me.
I imported a mk4 gti from japan and when it came in the engine managent light was one. I brought it to get it checked and the mechanic told me it had been chipped and when he resets the lamp it will come back on after a few moments post start up. Just wondering if this is normal for a chipped car to cause the management light to stay on. Also recently the coolant warning alarm keeps coming on when i start up from cold. I checked the coolant and there is plenty there. Once it warm and i restrt the engine and the error will not come back on.

    Cheers
    Gerard

No it isn't normal but there would have been a fault code stored so what was it. What year is the car and what is the engine code or failing that, PM me your chassis number (wvwzzz1Jz _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _) and I will tell you. No hang on you can't PM at one post. If you want to send it to me by email, I will PM you my email address.

Dont have the number jet but ill get it soon. Its a 03 and when he plugged it in one of the errors was " max turbo pressure reached".
It drives perfectly apart from when it cold it stutters a little untill warm...

I had that one before many times and recently on one programed by some numpty with a lap top but that one toasted the engine before I got my hands on it. A new engine and an APR remap put it right. This sort of thing always happens when there is a new fad for opportunists to come along and ride the band wagon and people like us pick up the bits afterwards, literally!

I presume you mean the coolant level light? That is the level and nothing to do with temp. You need to get this car to someone who can help you, it sounds like the people you have consulted so far have been a little vague.
