    Hello everyone,

Newly registered here although I've been lurking on here for a while now and could not find any solution to the problem I'm trying to resolve with my A4 without spending too much.

It is a 2001 1.8 Avant. Central locking wasn't working due to the broken stuffs(motor) in the pump. Got a replacement part for the pump from eBay and replaced it and it was working again from the fob as well as the key.

From time to time, the alarm would go off randomly and I only managed to stop it the last time it happened by pulling the cable off from the pump unit. Probably a dumb thing to do... I know. And the fob stopped working not long after that. I did replace the battery for the fob but not been able to resync it. The doors still lock/unlock from the driver's door using the key or the button. Alarm does not arm anymore as well.

I got myself a VagCom cable and the software recently and I've scanned for fault codes using Vag Com and returned with 32 codes from central lock controller. However, they can't be cleared and reappear as soon as the clearing is finished.

I also noticed that the controller info in Vag Com is not displaying as it should, i.e., Vag Number is 8 and Alarm and RC are missing in the component field. I've tried recoding to the factory defaults to no avail.

So I'm not sure where and what could be causing this, and I am not sure whether there is a separate central locking control module or if there is only one module for pump, alarm and RC.

    The pump is labelled 8D0 862 257.

Any advice would be much appreciated. The copied fault codes from VagCom are below. Thanks!

    SO...
    I had same fault om my A4. But . . .
It turns out that faults were generated and saved when I did tests on central convenience system trough VCDS.
After clearing DTC's no problem and no more codes . . .
